Foreclosures to Continue

by Administrator 24. June 2009 07:12

The number of foreclosures on homes will continue for many months if not years.  Many of these foreclosures are a result of predatory loans that were given out with the intention of causing a default of the applicant.  These predatory loans have been one of the main reasons for the financial state of the economy.

Many of these sub-prime loans will "hit" with higher interest rates over the next few months on many consumers.  These increased interest rates will have a negative impact on many individuals, and will no doubt cause the rise of home foreclosures.

If you have a sub-prime loan that is set to increase in the interest rate soon, you must take action to protect yourself and your belongings.

Many Consumers Falling to Fraud

by Administrator 22. June 2009 07:42

Many companies and business are taking advantage of one of the most troubling economic difficult periods in America history.  Many reports are coming into from many different states that indicate that some people are trying to defraud consumers by making them believe that they are able to help renegotiate foreclosures.  These individuals pretend to offer a helping hand and will end up making the individual worse off.

Not everyone operates under this manner,  however the risk for individuals already facing financial hardship losing even more is very unsettling.  If you choose to get help renegotiating a foreclosure,  make sure that the individual representing you is professional and has your best interests in mind.  If not, a bad situation can be turned worse. Make sure that those helping have established themselves and shown that they are able to achieve results with a negotiation.

Mortgage Refinancing May Expand

by Administrator 19. June 2009 05:13

Fannie May and Freddie Mac may get permission from federal regulators to refinance mortgages with loan-to-value ratios above 105%.  This would be an expansion of the Home Affordable program which was announced in February that was aimed at helping to prevent more foreclosures in the United States during this recession.

The newly expanded powers may allow Fannie and Freddie to refinance mortgages with many families who have homes that payments have been made on, and that the value of the home is still worth keeping.

It will be important that during any renegotiation process, that the homeowner be fully represented to make sure that another bad loan occurs in the future.

Treasury Department Provides More Money for Foreclosure Program

by Administrator 17. June 2009 04:14

The federal government along with the Treasury Department will be providing an additional $3.1 billion dollars to a group of mortgage companies as an incentive to get them to modify loans to help reduce the number of foreclosures.  This additional money for the program is an attempt to reduce or halt the number of foreclosures which are at an all time high.

The program originally had over $15.2 billion allocated to it, and this increase now puts the total of the program at $18.3 billion dollars.

The government is giving the mortgage industry a lot of money in hopes that they will work with consumers,  although many advocates for consumers have stated that many of the companies receiving the funds have not made a large enough effort to stem foreclosure rates.

Mortgage Foreclosures Break Record in 1st Quarter

by Administrator 11. June 2009 05:38

According to the Mortgage Bankers Association,  the number of mortgages entering the foreclosure process for the first quarter of 2009 jumped to a record high of 1.37%.

This continues to be bad news as the number of foreclosures increases.  These foreclosures are costing families their homes and many individuals everything they have worked for.

It has also come out that the trend of foreclosures is to continue at least another year.  One of the main reasons this trend will continue is the number of layoffs and unemployed workers is not expected to change dramatically within the next year.

If you are facing foreclosure, contact the Maryland mortgage modification attorneys of Chaifetz & Coyle, PC at 410-992-0444.

DC Foreclosures Spike

by Administrator 10. June 2009 07:30

In April, foreclosures in Washington DC jumped 42% from the same period of a year before. This brought the number of filings up to 398. However, this is only a fraction of the number of foreclosures across the state.

Maryland saw foreclosures drop by 39% in the same April period, down to 3,613. While this compares well with Virginia's 5% increase to 6,254, it is still a very large number of foreclosures.
