Government Has New Mortgage Help Program

by Administrator 19. October 2009 07:07

A new government program has been unveiled by the Obama administration on Monday.  The program helps to support state and local housing finance agencies in helping first time homebuyers purchase a house, as well as to develop rental housing availability.

Many state and local agencies that have provided these services have had a hard time recently raising money because of the lack of credit.  The new program will involve Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac assisting with the credit crunch. The two companies will package mortgages and then sell them to the treasury department.

The estimated cost of the program has not occurred,  because officials have stated that the size of the program will largely be based on the demand that the program generates.

Federal Mortgage Modification Hits Initial Target Goal

by Administrator 12. October 2009 06:36

The federally approved program that encourages mortgage modification has hit an initial target goal according to reports.  The initial target goal of about 500,000 mortgage modifications has been set according to reports.

The program has set the overall goal of nearly 4 million mortgage modifications to occur.   The program has a lot of ways to go,  however some people feel that the recent results show a positive step in the right direction.  It will take many more months to determine if the program was a real success by preventing many individuals from losing their homes.

Federal Officials Hope to Reduce Modification Fraud

by Administrator 5. October 2009 06:41

Many federal officials are stepping up efforts in order to help reduce the number of possible fraudulent attempts to modify a mortgage.  The number of fraudulent cases of false help in mortgage modification has increased rapidly with the huge rise in foreclosures,  as well as the increase in individuals and families attempting to find a way to keep their homes.

Federal officials have stated that they are increasing efforts in working with state officials in order to better manage the many organizations that promise help with mortgage modification.

It is troubling that several fraudulent organizations can give a bad name to many individuals and other organizations that attempt to help find a way for a family to save their homes.
