Colorado Foreclosures on the Rise as Maryland's Fall

Foreclosure filings in Colorado rose for the second month in a row in August, according to a new report released by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs' Division of Housing.

The new report shows foreclosure filings fell by 12.1 percent compared to August 2009, with 255 filings per county compared to 290 last year. Across Colorado foreclosure filings were down by 10.1 percent in August compared to 2009. Monthly foreclosure filings in the state have been down year-over-year every month since april.

While foreclosures fell by 20 percent in Denver county last month, Pueblo County had the largest increase in new filings with a 31.6 percent rise.

The foreclosure rate in Maryland fell 30.2 percent in August from the previous month and 11.5 percent from 2009.
