Foreclosure Defense Lawyers Submit Testimony to House Judiciary Committee

by Administrator 2. December 2010 07:28
Mortgage lenders have created chaos in the judicial system by flooding courts with falsified foreclosure documents, housing lawyers said.

Housing attorneys submitted written testimony to a House Judiciary Committee hearing on the causes of the foreclosure crisis. Thomas A. Cox, a foreclosure defense lawyer, was among the first to submit testimony. "As we allow the mortgage loan industry to circumvent the rule of law, we show that corporate interests can get away with such massive dishonest," Cox said. "We thereby encourage more of it."

Congress is examining the foreclosure process after major banks, Ally Financial; JP Morgan Chase, and Bank of America, suspended home seizures in September amid claims that legal documents were mishandled. Controversy arose when mortgage companies reliance on "robo-signers" came to light.
