According to some reports,  the number of houses or properties that have been foreclosed on have topped over 1 million.  This large number of foreclosures is further proof of the deep problems associated with many mortgages right now.

Many critics state that this massive amount of foreclosures is proof that many companies are not making the necessary mortgage modifications that they should be.  The companies are being accused of sitting around as individuals lose their homes and everything they have worked for. 

Companies have pledged more modifications of mortgages, although it is yet to be seen if these companies will offer more mortgage modifications.
