Maryland state loan saves families from foreclosure

The Maryland’s Emergency Mortgage Assistance program has saved almost 300 families from foreclosure thanks to the Emergency Mortgage Assistance loan. The loan helps homeowners who are 3 or more months late on paying their mortgage due to unexpected financial hardships, like losing their job, a health emergency, or a drop in income. The program allows residents to borrow as much as $50,000 interest-free.

Maryland's HOPE Network also provides counseling and assistance for people at the brink of foreclosure. So far, it has saved 16,000 homes from foreclosure and 185 from foreclosure due to mediation legistlation.
