R&B singer Toni Braxton filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy Friday.
According to court documents, the singer has debts with American Express, AT&T, DirecTV, Four Seasons Hotels, Neiman Marcus, and Westin Hotels. Braxton listed her estimated net worth is between $1 million and $10 million, she claims that is insufficient to pay off her creditors.
Braxton's attorney, Debra Grassgreen, said the 43 year-old songstress made several attempts to resolve the debts wither her creditors before opting for Chapter 7. "After months of trying to work out an acceptable arrangement with her principal creditors, she determined that the only way to assure that she could meet her tax obligations and provide for her two small children was to commence these bankruptcy cases," Grassgreen said.
This is the second time Braxton has filed for Chapter 7, she first filed for bankruptcy in 1998.
