According to a recent article in "Business Week," foreclosure filings will tip the scales at 3.9 million, breaking last year's record 3.2 million foreclosures by 700,000.  The continuing increase in filings stems from record unemployment combined with price erosion.

Foreclosure filings topped 300,000 for the ninth consecutive month in November.  Experts say that the foreclosure rate will probably not seriously decline until after the unemployment rate crests.
